Preparation and Anticipation
This man sneaks into your house, eats your cookies, drinks your milk, drops off a gift or two and then moves on to his next “stop”. You spend months buying gifts, wrapping them, decorating the house, and baking cookies. But his man gets the credit for your hard work. Not only is he the hero of billions of children around the world, but they even made him a Saint!
Okay, now that I have your attention. Today is Christmas Eve and your family is eagerly awaiting the mountain of gifts that “Santa brings them”.
We all know that the world has changed how we are spending our Christmas this year. Some families are not getting as much because work is scarce or because they’ve been ill. Others have turned to home-made gifts. But even more of us have made buying things on Amazon our go-to activity to alleviate the boredom. Some of us are not only on a first-name basis with the package delivery people, but they have been to our homes so often they are now family!
Tonight, as you watch the sugarplums dance in your head, remember to say a little prayer for those delivery people who are working way harder than that Santa character to make sure that your presents are delivered on time.
Today is about preparation for the joy that is to arrive tomorrow. Remember to take a little time for yourself today to have fun, relax, or talk to someone who is stuck at home feeling alone! Merry Christmas!
