Take Action

When you ask this question, people say things like family, career, health, finances, and spirituality.  Let’s pretend these are your answers.

As you look at the list of your priorities, when was the last time you put your family first?  For me, it’s usually at the top of my list.  My family has been one of the top priorities for me my entire life.

Then comes the career.  Now that some of you are working from home, it feels like the career is taking over.  It’s okay to make it a priority, but it’s okay to set hours and put the work away at a certain time.

Your health?  Okay, some of you are really prioritizing it because it’s still January.  But will it still be a priority in February or August or even December?  If this is really a priority for you, you should make an effort to stick with it.

Finances come next on that list.  Are your bills paid?  Do you know how much is in your accounts?  Are you up to date on your retirement?  Some people put finances on their list because they have every intention of becoming better at it.  It’s not really a priority, but they want to make it one.  This has to be a judgment call.  However, if you put it on your list, then make it a priority or get it off of the list.

Then we come to number five…spirituality.  This is a broad interpretation and could mean something different to each person.

Take a look at your life and figure out how realistic your list of priorities really is.  Are you prioritizing the things you say are a priority?  If not, you have the choice to either make it a priority or replace it with something that you do prioritize.
