Choose Happiness
· Are you feeling a little cut off from your family and friends this year?
· Do you find that your mood is all over the place?
· Are you stressed out about the restrictions placed on your holiday?
You are not alone. Let me say that again. YOU ARE NOT ALONE! Our entire world is facing the consequences of this pandemic. We are all wondering how we can make our holiday special this year.
The problem is that when we are put into situations that we think are negative, we tend to get stuck in the negativity. This can lead us to depression and make us curl into a ball and hide like a hermit. I know that’s what I wanted to do!
Then I remembered that focusing on the negative is my choice. If I want to be happy, I need to change my focus. But, how do I do that? How can I be happy when the whole world is falling apart?
Honey, you are worth it! You are allowed to be happy. Just because the world is falling apart doesn’t mean that you can’t make your life easier and happier.
Today I want you to write a list of ten fun activities you can do before the new year. It doesn’t have to be elaborate. You could talk to someone or watch a funny movie or play in the snow. Just make that list of fun things that make you happy.
Pick ten days left before the new year and schedule one activity for each of those ten days. No, don’t whine – just schedule it. Set an alarm on your phone to remind you to do that activity.
You should now have ten days worth of things that light you up and make you happy. Enjoy!
